a spring growl

Mucky_spring_3

If there comes a little thaw,
Still the air is chill and raw,
Here and there a patch of snow,
Dirtier than the ground below,
Dribbles down a marshy flood;
Ankle-deep you stick in mud
In the meadows while you sing,
"This is Spring."

I saw something beautiful today and knew that at last spring had returned.  I was coming off an overpass and stopped on the side of the road to grab a couple of pictures.
Perhaps not an exciting site for you, but to me it means the world.  It means that the Canada Goose has deemed this part of the world fit for return.  That green grass, long walks late into the evening and summers at the beach are on their way.  As well as gardening and outdoor living, soon to be a reality.   Ah...I'm soaking it in already.

Even the little bit of water amidst a very dirty city looked so beautiful and peaceful.  Nature is breathing again and soon she will be full of wondrous little creatures.  I am ready.

  1. The signs are all here, but when is the temp going to be? It almost reached 16 c last week or the week before that and now it's back to -5 c and snowing! GRRR! I tried to cheer myself up by putting some of my spring/summer stuff outside in the front yard (although we still need to get some birdseed) and we have to attach the windsock to our garage somehow. I've had all the windows in my house open last week. I have spring fever really bad! We can't even send the kidlets out into the yard because the fence is not finished and our yard is basically a mud infested quicksand oasis (if that makes sence). When the ground thaws we are going to till it all and re-sod as well as put in a little patio. Party plans are ringin in my ears once it is all done! Yay!

  2. It will come Karla maybe it is a little like Field of Dreams "if you put your stuff out Spring will come" :) I attach our windsock to our home by a wrought iron bracket. You can find them at any hardware store. Our yard isn't much better. We get a bit of a pool in the back because the water that melts on the surface has no where to go due to the ground being frozen. Your yard plans sound delightful and so does the party!!

  3. Maybe if I put more stuff out, spring will come sooner! LOL Thanks for the bracket idea. Now to get to the store!
